Interviews, Photography, and Writing That Capture Employees’ Authentic Voices
Interviews and Editing That Bring Out Authentic Voices
Responding to the desire to “share the authentic voices of people working at MUJI,” we handled interviews, photography, and copywriting in a fully integrated manner. Our goal was to convey the expressions and words of employees to readers without compromising the brand’s sincerity or relatable charm. For the interviews, we planned multiple formats, including cross-talk sessions and one-on-one interviews. Using pre-prepared interview sheets as a guide, we acted as facilitators to create a natural flow of conversation, drawing out employees’ thoughts on their motivations and challenges. The collected statements were not published verbatim; instead, we carefully edited them to preserve context and intent, restructuring the content into stories that allow job seekers to envision their own potential future at the company.
Multi-Location Photography and Brand Expression
For the photography, we visited multiple locations, including Tokyo, the suburbs, Shizuoka, and Akita, capturing a wide variety of scenes. We utilized store layouts and product displays as backdrops, portraying employees with the brand’s characteristic sincerity and approachability. Rather than taking simple documentary shots, we directed the photography to convey the atmosphere and energy of each location, ensuring the compositions reflected the feel of the workplace.
